Need a Quiet Country Retreat? Stay in our cozy hermitage house.
Rose Hill Hermitage is on a farm less than an hour west of Minneapolis/St. Paul. This remodeled granary serves as author Connie Lounsbury’s writing studio when guests are not occupying it for retreats. We invite you to enjoy the peace and quiet it offers.
The rustic hermitage is furnished with lovely antiques, handmade quilts and rugs, and hand thrown pottery. It features a bedroom with a single bed, a small kitchen area, studio space, and a sitting room with a lake view.
The studio offers an antique armoire, large desk area, and office chair with great lighting. The kitchen is equipped with refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, crockpot, electric fry pan, a large cooler for fresh water, pots and pans, dishes and silverware.
A propane furnace heats the hermitage; air-conditioning keeps it cool in the summer. The outhouse is just across the farmyard (with a porta-potty available for nighttime use). If you need more than a washbasin bath, the community center with pool and shower is ten minutes away, and offers day passes.
What Rose Hill Hermitage lacks in modern convenience, it makes up for in peace and tranquility – a quiet that allows you to appreciate the many songbirds, the wind whistling through the huge Norway spruce trees, and the loons calling across the water. Our serene country setting with a lake view, flower gardens, and gazebo, all beckon you to slow your pace and reduce stress.
Watch the deer frolicking along the wood’s edge, or the swans, geese and ducks gliding along the water. Sit in the shade of the late afternoon and watch a field being planted in the spring or the crop being harvested in the fall. The ambience of Rose Hill Retreat offers quiet rarely experienced in today’s noisy world.
Remember, it is only by entering moments of silence that we can hear the still, soft voice of God.
